A basic recurve bow has a wide range of bow sizes that can be used with an archer that is interested in an all round bow that can be used for a wide range of shooting fun. These recurve bows are easy to transport and an inexpensive alternative to the Olympic style recurve. The basic recurve can be used as an introduction to the sport, a back yard shooter, league, 3D, and target shooting, light hunting if 40lb or above in draw weight, and they are best suited for the beginner.

Olympic Recurve

The following chart below is meant for Olympic style recurve bows which most new archers would not be starting out with. Olympic style bows need to be more accurate in sizing and require greater attention to detail when sizing a bow to the archer.

  • 14" to 16" = 48" Recurve Bow
  • 17" to 20" = 54" Recurve Bow
  • 20" to 22" = 58" Recurve Bow
  • 22" to 24" = 62" Recurve bow
  • 24" to 26" = 64" to 66" Recurve bow
  • 26" to 28" = 66" to 68" Recurve bow
  • 28" to 30" = 68" to 70" Recurve bow
  • 31" and longer = 70" to 72" bow
